Acupuncture Treatment Throughout Bolton & The Surrounding Areas
Acupuncture forms part of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This is an ancient system (theory) based on a holistic approach which supports the concept of using needles to influence “Qi” (energy or life force) within the body.
Qi is described in terms of Yin energy- quiet and calm, and Yang energy- vigorous and exciting. According to TCM theory, any change in the flow or balance of Qi can lead to pain, disease and disability. Re-establishing a correct balance is the aim of TCM.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile, single-use needles into specific points to enhance the body’s own healing process. The needles remain in place for a few minutes or up to 20/30 minutes.
You may experience discomfort as the needles are inserted, but this should not last. Once in place, the needles are manipulated to elicit a sensation. It is used as part of the treatment programme to help reduce pain, increase movement and aid recovery.
Scientific evidence has shown that acupuncture stimulates the brain to produce natural pain relief (endorphins) and assists the body’s own healing processes.
