Nerve Damage (Ulnar Nerve)

The ulnar nerve runs very close to the bones on the inner aspect of the elbow and in certain cases it can be damaged, especially in rheumatoid arthritis.

This is characterised by pain and sometimes numbness radiating down the inner forearm and weakness in the hand. If the damage is minor then physiotherapy treatment is extremely effective in resolving the symptoms.

Occasionally the nerve needs moving and this requires surgery. We work closely with the consultant to ensure a safe and optimal recovery.
